Jude Murray – HOD & Full-Time School Counsellor
Hi my name is Jude Murray, one of two guidance counsellors here at school. I work full-time at Horomaka and am here everyday. I am excited to begin my 2nd year as a School Counsellor at Horomaka!
I provide a confidential service to ākonga and their whānau. Ākonga are supported to become empowered in all areas of their lives. Where necessary, I liaise and network to gain access to specialist mental health providers. We want to normalize counselling – you play sport/gym/walk/eat well for your physical health, you connect with people for your social health, you might connect with nature, be in the present moment, attend church, etc for your spiritual health. It is also important to look after your mental health.
Kesh Sabey – Full-Time School Counsellor
I have been a high school teacher (English and Drama) at a variety of schools for 12 years.
I then decided to further my education and experiences by completing a Masters in Social Work. I have since worked in Addictions, Care & Protection, Youth Justice and group home settings.
As well as quality time with family, my interests are travel, varieties of food, human psychology and philosophy.
