THE SPORT IN EDUCATION PROGRAMME

SIE CAMP

SIE CAMP

The Sport in Education is project involves eight schools across New Zealand. It is run by Sport New Zealand, Ministry of Education, NZQA, and NZCER. It is a unique programme and Hillmorton is the only school in Christchurch to be selected.

At Hillmorton HIgh School we are using this opportunity to teach in a contextualised model where students have a passion and interest in sport and physical activity. A team of teachers will work collaboratively to develop real life learning experiences using the New Zealand Curriculum.

Outcomes of this contextualised learning is for students academic performance to improve, by them making more meaningful connections between subjects and transfer the knowledge and understanding to all areas of their lives.
