Seven of our top swimmers travelled to Jelly Park to compete against the top swimmers from all schools around Christchurch.

Last week I had the privilege of taking these enthusiastic students down to Jelly Park for a full day of competing in the pool giving it their best.  They were supportive and positive throughout the day and represented our school with pride.

Some impressive results emerged:

Alisha Bedggood placing 5th and 3rd in her two heats

Mackenzie Buchanan placing 3rd in her heats

Sarah Cameron placed 4th and 6th in her two heats

Francesca Damiano was competitive in her butterfly race placing 2nd in her heat

Ieuan Edwards placed 3rd in the open men’s race and went on to win his category in his freestyle event, missing out on beating his own record he set last year by 2 seconds.

We are awaiting the final results to be released by School Sport Canterbury online but these performances were something to celebrate.

Well done to all of the athletes for competing and giving it their best. A real display of our school motto “Whāia te iti kahurangi”, Personal Best Nothing Less!
