A strong start to their season, our boys start their competition with a win last week!

Hillmorton High School has a newly appointed rugby coordinator, Lewy Clarke.  In this role Lewy and our Sports Director, Matt Sharr,  have entered into a partnership with Suburbs Rugby Club and formed two rugby teams for this 2019 season.

The teams had their first games last Saturday.  The Under 18’s team who is coached by Stef Mitchell and John Wright (both ex-pupils) with James Carroll as the manager assisted by our very own Sam Janssen, had a close game, narrowly pulling away with a win 29-28, they beat Christ’s College second 15.  Our Under 14 team, unfortunately, lost 33-10 to Christchurch Boys High School.

The U18 team is bolstered by several quality Cashmere High School players, and other students from surrounding schools, including ex-pupils.  All have been involved with the team previously.  The U14 team is coached by Scott Lawson and Matt Parfitt.  Made up of mainly Hillmorton High School students and a couple of students from Cashmere and other schools close to the community.  We would like to thank all contributing players and staff for making this possible for our Hillmorton High School pupils.

We are very proud and excited for both our U14 and U18 rugby teams. A huge thank you to Lewy and Matt for all your efforts to get these teams off the ground, and to the coaches working with this group of young talented players. We look forward to following the team’s successes throughout the season.
