This week our newly formed ultimate frisbee team competed against the best around Canterbury

On the 25th and 26th of March 2019 eight senior students competed in the Secondary Schools Ultimate Championships at Centennial Park. This was the first time we had entered a competition like this as it was a new sporting venture for Hillmorton HS.  Enthusiastic ultimate frisbee player, Miss Fogarty, introduced the sport to students when she began her teaching position at the start of the year.

Our team approached the two-day tournament with eagerness to compete and represent their school in this new sport. Over the two days the team took some wins and losses but there was a steady rise of improvement in skills from each team member, more importantly they enjoyed themselves and developed an interest for the sport, some of which wish to continue playing in clubs outside of school.

We had two great achievements from the tournament; the first was Krithik Prasad who was awarded the most valuable player in the open division.  Secondly, Owen Lemusu was awarded the most spirited player in the opens division.  Well done to both of them.

A big congratulations should also go out to the team for taking on the challenge and competing in this great tournament.

Well done guys!
