Removal of the Traffic Light System

September 12, 2022

What does it mean for HHS?

Kia ora koutou,

You will probably have heard the news that the COVID traffic light system ends tonight at 11:59pm. Masks will no longer be required, except in healthcare and rest home environments. While some organisations may still require masks to be worn, we will not.

From tomorrow onwards, masks will not be required to be worn by staff, students and visitors. If unwell, please stay home. If you or any students prefer to still wear a mask, then this is of course, fine.

Furthermore, only those with the virus will be required to isolate for 7 days. Household contacts will no longer need to isolate but this is replaced by RAT testing for 5 days.

I acknowledge how difficult it has been to wear masks at school. I thank you all for your forbearance in this matter, and for working together to keep us all safe.

Aroha nui,

Ann Brokenshire
