For the first time in more than 20 years our girls’ basketball team went to the South Island tournament and then Nationals, following on from their first year playing in the local premier grade.

They surprised themselves by coming third at South Islands, qualifying for the National tournament held this week in Palmerston North and coming a credible 8th in a close game for 7th/8th losing, just, to Aquinas 66-71. This is a fantastic achievement for their first National tournament.

Many thanks to coach Andy Scott and team managers, Georgina Cuttance at South Islands and Malieta Trueman at Nationals.

We are very proud of our girls and looking forward to next year.
