On 20th September, Keisha Jones and Tanja Amer represented Hillmorton High School and Canterbury at the NZCAF National Schools’ Hip Hop Championships in Queenstown. The girls had qualified for this event at Regionals earlier in the term under the name of In-Fusion with a set they had choreographed themselves.

Hillmorton High was one of only four Christchurch Schools represented.  The others were Papanui High (in the Mega Crew section), Halswell School and Te Waka Unua School (both in the Same School Primary/Intermediate Small Crew section).

Keisha and Tanja danced in the Secondary Same School Mini Crew division which is for crews of 2-4 dancers who all attend the same school.  Keisha also danced with her cousin Anamika in the Secondary Dance School Mini Crew division.

The girls danced superbly but didn’t place in the top 3 this time.  The standard was incredibly high and it was great to watch crews from all over the country, from above Auckland down to Gore. 2019 was the biggest national event to date with the introduction of the mini crew sections and the competition ran for 7 hours.  The girls came away inspired and keen to start choreographing new material.

A huge congratulations to both Hillmorton students for an outstanding effort and representing Hillmorton High School with pride.  We look forward to seeing more from this duo!
