24 students from Hillmorton and Ashburton College got to see Pope Francis up close and plenty more too.

Horomaka teamed up with Ashburton for the biennual Europe trip to experience their classical studies contexts. The tour visited Greece and Italy.

Highlights of Greece included Athens, the Acropolis, Theatre of Epidavros, the ancient site of the Olympics at Olympia, the mountain oracle at Delphi and an island tour of Hydra, Poros and Aegina.

Highlights of Italy included Pompeii, the Monte Cassino WW2 memorial, Rome, the Colosseum, Museums, Pope Francis and the Vatican (up close and personal), St Peter’s Basilica and the Sistine Chapel, Trevi Fountain and then Venice.

Well done to the students who fundraised and saved before their full-on itinerary of experiential learning.
