We are very proud of our very own Braeden Casware for his national achievement in Lawn Bowls, Braeden offers and few words on his experience and achievement below; Hello my name is Braeden Casware and I am a Year 12 at Hillmorton High School.  I play a sport called lawn bowls.  If you don’t know what lawn bowls is everyone says it’s an oldie sport but now it’s both, an oldie and a younger generation sport. I got into lawn bowls through my nana who used to play but died of cancer in 2016.  So I decided to play lawn bowls from 2017 to follow in my Nana’s footsteps.  This is my second year playing it and I really enjoy the strategic game play of it and tactics. Recently I competed in the Canterbury Secondary Schools Lawn Bowls Champs on March 13. I came out firing as I had the defending champ from last year up first against me. It was a classic and close game. I came out on top winning 2-0 in sets. Then I had 2 more competitors to play where I won both of them and made it into the final where it was a close game but my opponent beat me in the end.  So I ended up 2nd overall.  Which means 2nd overall in Canterbury for Secondary Schools.  My next challenge was the National Secondary Schools Lawn Bowls Singles Champs that were held in Auckland from the 27 and 28 of March.  I won 3 lost 2 which made me 2nd in pool play but didn’t make it to the finals.  Overall I came 10th out of 42 which means 10th overall in NZ for Secondary Schools Lawn Bowls. Thank you to the school and everyone for supporting me. Braeden Casware We look forward to following Braeden’s success. By Gabby Thomas
