29 Students from the Environment Committee and International Dept. went to the beautiful Koukourarata (Port Levy)

This year we started with a beach clean of about 40 kilograms of broken glass and rusty metal. Then they cleared some tall grass and thistle that was a fire hazard beside a beautiful chunk of bush we helped plant in 2014.

The students had a hard earned swim at the beach and then did the NZ bird Survey.  Afterwards they watched the sun go down over the hills from the Pou.

The next day the students had unfinished business as they knew there was more glass on the beach, they went back and collected the same amount again.

Thanks to Koukourarata for hosting us, the students for the work they did, the staff who came along and the international students too.

Mia Sharr “I really enjoyed swimming in the icy cold water, the only thing was the sharp rocks!”

Noah Silich “I loved the hospitality, the owners were really nice and welcoming.”
