Avau competed in the South Island Athletics Championships competition in Nelson where she placed second and has qualified to represent Hillmorton High School in the Athletics National Championships in Wellington this year.

Nelson hosted 600 competitors from 77 schools for the South Island Secondary Schools Athletics Championships in fantastic conditions at Saxton Athletics Track.  Excellent performances saw 10 new records enter the history books.  Avau was one of these competitors and was simply anticipating to give it her best and her best efforts placed her second in the South Island.

Avau and her family are very excited to be heading to Nationals later on this year and we look forward to following her success.  More information is due in August on this event.   Avau will become one of the very few Hillmorton High School students to have made it this far in the Athletics sporting arena.  We are very proud of her and wish her all the best at Nationals.
